For areas which experience frost or snow and perhaps have less than reliable water quality, the Edwards GTS Series 2 system is the only ground mounted solar hot water system choice. Being an "indirect" system the water is heated indirectly via an in-tank heat exchanger using a mixture of Glycol to transfer the collected heat from the collectors.

The benefit of this 'indirect' heat exchange process is that the system can be used confidently in frost areas, without risking damage to the system; it offers protection against freeze damage in conditions of up to minus 8 degrees Celsius.

The Edwards GTS Series 2 system is equally suited for areas with poor water quality because instead of using water, which can form calcium deposits in the collectors and connecting pipe work, the glycol heat transfer fluid helps ensure that the heat exchange circuit is kept clean, maintaining peak performance for the life of the system.
